FREYA BEER
Hailed as ‘a raw and thrilling new talent’, Freya Beer is a singer-songwriter from West London. Inspired by art and literature, alternative fashion and music. Freya distills her disparate influences through a gothic soul and devil-may-care spirit that dares to dream in the darkness.
Freya began her musical journey when she released her debut single ‘Dear Sweet Rosie’ in November 2019 on her own record label Sisterhood Records. The single immediately gained attention from all the right places beginning with a BBC Radio 6 Music live session with Marc Riley in 2020. From then on the only way is up, Beer’s debut album ‘Beast’ was recognised by the British Library and inducted into their British Sound Archive for individuals to study. Festival’s such as the Isle of Wight Festival and Latitude welcomed Freya and her band within the next year and opened doors to sold out headline shows in London and Manchester, followed by support slots for Honeyblood and Republica. Freya made her debut across the pond in New York City where she played a full band headline show at Pete’s Candy Store as well as an exclusive straight-to-vinyl live recording session at Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn.
In 2023 Freya released a double headed single Fantasy and Galore, to great public acclaim. Manchester’s Finest stapled Freya as “the newest leader of the dark goth pack” as did Time Out London when they featured Freya in their Halloween issue, celebrating the resurgence of Goth culture. In John Robbs opus The History of Goth he names Freya as the new act most likely to succeed.
Freya introduced 2024 with the new single ‘Write Her Off’ along with performing her poetry on Dr John Cooper Clarke’s UK tour, including a set at the London Palladium.
Freya’s second single of 2024 is the groundbreaking Tatianna. Labelled a pop classic by numerous commentators on its release in May. The download version is supplemented by a 4 track EP featuring all 4 of her recent releases. Tatianna, Write Her Off , Fantasy and Galore.
Freya has her own show on Islington Radio, ‘Freya Beer’s Gothic Disco’, which is an eclectic mix of musical genres featuring guests such as Jonathan Ross, who is a big fan.
