This will be a rare chance to see original members of The Penguin Café Orchestra reunited to delve into the group’s back catalogue of beautiful, intriguing, playful and entrancing music.
The avant-pop band was formed in 1972 by guitarist and composer Simon Jeffes. They toured extensively in the 80’s and 90’s and attracted a large cult following.
The orchestra’s sound is not easily categorised, but has elements of exuberant folk music and a minimalist aesthetic occasionally reminiscent of composers such as Philip Glass.
