Join us for the ‘Sunday Service’ early evening live music session featuring Joose Keskitalo Trio from Finland.
Finnish-born Joose Keskitalo is regarded as one of the most original contemporary singer-songwriters in Finland. A prolific songwriter who has published music in Finnish since 2004, being involved in projects like the psychedelic folk collective Paavoharju.
Joose Keskitalo experiments with forms and stories found in Francis Child’s collection of ballads and Shakespeare’s history plays, notions of Alchemy and other old traditions with a strange Outsider Folk feel to it. Be prepared to hear stories about selling your soul to the devil, King Henry IV, the peasant’s revolt and old Greek mythology.
The music ranges from traditional folk to Jethro Tullish blues rock.
Joose Keskitalo has published two albums in english: New Songs for Old Motifs (2021) and Oh, Our Slow Designs (2023).
Joose Keskitalo (guitar, vocals, flute and violin) is accompanied by Ville Linna (banjo, weissenborn, dulcimer and backing vocals).
