James Felice & Will Lawrence // Molly’s Lips

This September we have a rather special American show coming to Deal.

James Felice and Will Lawrence of THE FELICE BROTHERS arrive at The Lighthouse for an intimate evening of songs and storytelling, performing music from their respective solo records.

If you’re not already familiar with The Felice Brothers, their list of admirers should tell you something.

This autumn a huge tribute album celebrating their songs is being released, featuring The Lumineers, Bright Eyes, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dawes, Deer Tick and more. Rolling Stone recently described it as a “star-studded tribute” to the much-loved Catskills band.

James Felice — founding member, pianist, accordion player and vocalist with The Felice Brothers — released his brilliant debut solo album The Little Ones last year on Conor Oberst’s Million Stars Records, a beautifully intimate collection with echoes of John Prine, Warren Zevon, Tom Waits and Randy Newman.

Joining him is Felice Brothers drummer and multi-instrumentalist Will Lawrence, whose fifth solo album Rooftops in the Centerfold arrived last year to wonderful reviews — warm, intricate American folk music built around fingerpicked guitar, gorgeous melodies and beautifully understated songwriting.

Together they’ll be playing one of a small run of UK dates — and seeing musicians of this calibre in a room the size of The Lighthouse is exactly what we love about putting these shows on.

And we’re extremely pleased to have Deal’s own Molly’s Lips opening the evening.

Molly’s Lips are Deal’s own duo of Billy Glinn and Phil Self – two musicians with deep roots in East Kent’s independent music scene and a long track record of writing songs with honesty, edge and a quietly powerful charm.
