“Transcendent and Glorious” – The Quietus

For the last two decades, Kavus Torabi has been responsible for a staggering body of work that includes his transformative and unusual instrumental music with The Utopia Strong, the rich, complex output of his own octet, Knifeworld, or fronting the legendary Gong at Daevid Allen’s request, taking the psychedelic stalwarts into incendiary and ecstatic new realms with four studio albums and counting, not to mention his involvement and contributions to Cardiacs, Guapo and The Holy Family …

... However, it is as a solo artist he weaves all the strands of his idiosyncratic vision together. Fusing the celestial with the human, the joyful with the melancholy, blending the autobiographical with the metaphysical.

Over his albums 'Hip To The Jag' (2020), 'The Banishing' (2024) and the forthcoming album (released Autumn 2026), Torabi has crafted a shimmering, singular and otherworldly realm of exquisite songwriting and poetic lyricism. Heartbreaking songs of love, loss, mortality, optimism and regret.

A multi-instrumentalist, Torabi’s charismatic presence and haunting voice is accompanied by guitar, harmonium and synthesiser, each performance an immersive, transformative and ritualistic experience.

Schechter & Wallfisch

“These two beautiful exiles travel limbic landscapes and underwater dreams with a map that disintegrates instantly when viewed. Their fractured sounds dissolve and reconfigure endlessly... devouring the sweet meat hiding deep in the center of the amygdala.” - Michael Gira (SWANS / Young God Records)

Schechter/Wallfisch unites multi-instrumentalists and longtime collaborators Dana Schechter (Swans, Insect Ark, Angels of Light) and Paul Wallfisch (Swans, Botanica, Little Annie, Firewater, and Musical Director/Curator at the Vienna Volkstheater).

Dana Schechter: Lap steel guitar, bass guitar, electronics
Paul Wallfisch: Grand piano, church pipe organ, SOMA Pipe, guitaret

Operating between Berlin's avant-garde and New York underground scenes, Schechter and Wallfisch offer listeners tastes of electro-acoustic improvisation, Weimar cabaret, post-punk and doom metal.

The project began when the duo met in Vienna to create the live theatrical score for playwright Wolfram Lotz’s production Die Politiker, directed by Kay Voges at the Wiener Volkstheater. The result: The Heart of a Whale (Trost Records, May 23, 2025), an album offering six volatile, delicate, raucous, meditative, and terrifying songs.
